3D Freeform Sculpt: Dumbo Betta Fish
The goal of this project was to create a 3D sculpt of the dumbo betta fish, polypaint it, and render a presentation still (create an environment with realistic lighting). The dumbo betta fish is named after the unique shape of its pectoral fins which resemble the ears of the fictional character, Dumbo the elephant. This project was completed as part of BMC's Biomedical Communications Technologies course.

By examining various reference photos to understand betta fish anatomy, I created sketches that would be used in my image reference planes in Zbrush.​ Sketches were created in Adobe Photoshop.

ZBrush was used to digitally sculpt/model, texture, and polypaint the betta fish. I created a scale brush for texturing the betta fish’s body.

The model was then brought into Cinema 4D for lighting, environment construction, and rendering.
Final
Details
Adobe Photoshop was used to add final touches to the rendered image from Cinema 4D such as creating a field of depth effect and adding small water particles to the environment.
